TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE

Thank you for visiting our website. The website, including the material and events, is governed by terms and conditions that apply to all users of and visitors to SCB site (hereinafter referenced as ‘you’). By proceeding to use the site you signify that you explicitly agree to be bound by the following conditions and documents referred to in them, as revised by us from time to time. Revised conditions take effect when published. These terms and conditions apply to all events and advice provided by SCB, except if indicated otherwise. 

Owner of the website

The website belongs to Sustainability College Bruges (hereinafter also referenced as ‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘SCB’). 

Information about you and your visits to SCB website

If you have clicked on the acceptance button of registration and/or enrollment, we process information about you in accordance with our data privacy policy. Please note that by using our site, you consent to a minimal processing during your site visit and warrant that all data you provide is true and accurate. 

Accessing and acceptable use of SCB site

You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to the site. You are also responsible for ensuring that all persons who access the site through your internet connection are aware of these conditions and comply with them. Access to the SCB website is at your discretion and we may withdraw or amend the services provided on the site without notice. From time to time we may restrict access to some or all users to some or all parts of the site and sometimes the site may be unavailable. Whilst we aim to update SCB site regularly, the content on the site may be out of date at a given time. 

If we determine that you have breached any of these conditions, we may take such actions as we deem appropriate, including disabling access to our site. You agree to indemnify us for all damages, direct or indirect, for all claims brought by a third party against us arising out of or in connection with any breach by you of any warranty set out in the conditions. 

You may use the site only for lawful purposes. You must not use the site:

  • In any way that breaches any applicable local, national or international law or regulation (including applicable law in Belgium and the law of the country from which postings are made);
  • In any way that is unlawful or fraudulent or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;
  • For the purpose of harming or attempting to harm anyone in any way;
  • To send, knowingly, receive, upload, download, use or re-use any material that does not comply with the content standards;
  • To transmit or procure the sending of any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (e.g. phishing, spam). 
  • To knowingly or unknowingly transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses or any other computer code, programs or files designed to – without limitation – misuse, destroy, interrupt or limit the functionality of any computer, computer software or hardware or telecommunication equipment. 

With respect to linking to our site, you may do so provided in a way that is fair, legal and in accordance with the above-mentioned acceptable use and does not damage the reputation of SCB or its people involved in SCB or take advantage of it. You must not establish a link in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part where none exists. You must not establish a link from any website that is not owned by you. SCB website must not be framed on any other site. We reserve the right to withdraw linking permission without notice.  

SCB liability

SCB or its people involved will not be responsible for any losses you suffer as a result of us breaching these conditions if the losses were reasonably foreseeable to both parties when you began using SCB website. We will not be responsible or liable for any personal or business loss, direct or indirect, including without limitation loss of profits, revenue, contracts, anticipated savings, data goodwill or wasted expenditure. We will in any case not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss. Attending events held by SCB is at own responsibility and liability in case of accident, loss or theft. Participants are reminded to comply at all times with all applicable legislation, including – but not limited to – competition laws. 

We do not limit in any way our liability by Belgian law for death or serious personal injury directly caused by SCB’s gross negligence or willful misconduct, nor any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Belgian law. SCB can only be held liable under the terms as specified here, excluding all other liabilities.  Liability of SCB is limited in accordance with the terms and conditions of its insurance policy. 

Intellectual Property rights and trade/registered marks

SCB is the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights on the website, the logo and material we publish on it. Meaning these works are protected by registered rights, copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved. You must acknowledge SCB status and that of any identified contributors as the authors of such material. Nothing contained in the website shall be taken, construed or considered as a grant of license or right to use the copyrights, registered rights or trademarks of SCB or that of any third party displayed on the site without the prior written permission of the respective owner(s). Extracts of material from our site may be accessed, downloaded and printed for your personal and non-commercial use only. You may not modify the paper or digital copies of any material printed off or downloaded in any way and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text. You must not use any part of the material on the website for direct or indirect commercial purposes or advantage without obtaining a license from us or our licensors. If you print, copy or download any part of the site in breach of these conditions, your right to use the site will cease immediately and you must at our option return or destroy any copies of material made immediately. 

The name and the logo (including the shield) of “Sustainability College Bruges” and “SCB” are registered and protected. 

Photography and filming

Please be aware that there may be photography or filming at some events, which may be shared on our website and may be published in official SCB materials. Signage at events will indicate that filming and photography may take place. Any guest who does not wish to be filmed or photographed should inform a member of staff prior or on the day of the event. 

Refunds and cancellations 

Events are charged to cover costs of for example marketing, hosting, location, maintenance, equipment, catering, staffing, speaker expenses. Therefore the number of guests are critical to cover costs. 

All events listed on SCB website are subject to change including details such as advertised dates, speakers, locations, prices. SCB reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrolment or other circumstances, which would make the event non-viable. If SCB cancels an event, guests will be offered a full refund (excluding interest rate). However any personal expenses, like but not limited to travel expenses, incurred due to the cancellation of an event will not be refunded. Should circumstances arise resulting in a postponement of an event, guests will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at a new, future date. 

You may cancel your event registration within ten working days, beginning on the day you received your confirmation letter or email and ending on the tenth working day at 7 pm CET. You will receive a full refund of the price paid for the registration. Refunds after ten working days will only be given if the event in question is sold out and we are able to resell the tickets concerned. Regrettably, in all other cases SCB cannot refund, in full or part, guests on occasions of for example force majeure, or when bad weather, strike or traffic prevents or discourages travel. 

Refunds cannot be processed online. Therefore all refund requests must be made by the person who made the original booking or the credit card holder. Cancellations and refund requests should be requested via email to SCB. If your booking was made online, please enclosed a copy of your original receipt or confirmation email. 

Alteration to the registration

Our online system does not allow to make changes to your registration. Please contact us to see if your booking can be amended and we will be pleased to assist you. 

Other information

The information provided on the website is for general information only and should not be considered as official advice. 

Hotels, restaurants and other establishments are recommended for their location in and near SCB or Bruges. SCB has no control over or responsibility for any bookings or standards of accommodation or service. Prices are set independently by those venues. 

In case SCB includes a city trip or outdoor event in a program, please be aware that SCB has no control over or responsibility for the operation of the tours or such events. The operators have the sole responsibility for those events and they can rely on their insurance policy. All queries about those trips or events should be addressed to the operator concerned. SCB will do its utmost best to select the best and safe operators for the event. SCB will also assist you in your communication with the operator in order to overcome cultural barrier. 

Insurance

Even though SCB is covered by insurances, please make sure you are covered by personal insurance covering travels outside your home. SCB’s liabilities is at any event capped to the maximum amount as specified in its insurance policy. 

Visit to SCB

Access to SCB is generally available when SCB is open to the public and/or visitors. On some occasions throughout the year, SCB may be closed. SCB grounds are private property and visitor admission procedures and security arrangements may apply. Please contact SCB to enquire about opening times, specified site entrances for visitors and so on. 

Jurisdiction and severability

If any of the conditions is deemed invalid, void or for any reason unenforceable, that condition will be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining condition. 

Disputes will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Belgian courts (Bruges), except if we decide that we may bring proceedings against you for breach of these conditions in your countries of residence or any other relevant country.
